Why we need to Stop Demonizing Screen Time

As parents, we’ve been told time and time again that screen time is a threat to our children’s well-being. We’ve been bombarded with headlines warning us about the dangers of too much screen time, and we’ve been made to feel guilty for ever allowing our kids to use technology. But what if we stopped demonizing screen time and instead saw it as a valuable tool that can benefit our children?

It’s time to acknowledge that screens are a part of our daily lives, and they offer a multitude of benefits. With screens, our children can connect with loved ones who live far away, learn about different cultures and languages, and access educational resources that may not be available otherwise. Screens can also provide a sense of entertainment and enjoyment, helping children unwind after a long day.

Of course, it’s important to set boundaries and ensure that our children are engaging in age-appropriate activities. We should monitor their screen time and make sure that they are not spending too much time staring at screens. But we should also acknowledge that screens can be a valuable tool when used in moderation.

So let’s stop demonizing screen time and instead embrace it as a valuable tool that can benefit our children’s lives. Let’s use screens to connect with loved ones, learn about new things, and provide our children with entertainment and enjoyment. By doing so, we can help our children thrive in a world where screens are an integral part of daily life.
